Jantar Mantarwas actually constructed for various astronomical purposes like measure the sun’s declination, the star’s declination, the local time, altitude and the planets. It was built with the aim of ascertaining the different eclipses. The meridian pass time, duration of day and night and location of the pole star could be determined. The position of the Zodiac and the constellation of other stars could be detected from Jantar Mantar. Varanasi features many stone devices to indicate and read the speed and the motion of the stars and other planets. There are other smaller and greater structures which are meant to perform as astronomical instruments.
Jantar Mantar is an observatory, built by Jai Singh the Maharaja of Jaipur in 1737.Jai Singh was a great admirer of science and technology and he was particularly passionate about astronomy.Jantar Mantar at Varanasi was built in line with Delhi, Mathura, Ujjain and Jaipur observatories. Some of the most important tools found in Jantar Mantar are Digansha Yantra, Dhruva Yantra, Ram Yantra, Krantiveritta Yantra, Samrat Yantra, Dish Yantra and Prakash Yantra.It is a beautiful example of Mughal Rajput architecture.

Bharat Kala Bhavan is an art, architecture museum and houses a vast collection of paintings, Hindu and Buddhist sculptures and other materials of archeological importance.Bharat Kala Bhavan was set up in 1920A.D.It is developed by Rai Krishnadasa who was famous writer in Hindi.Bharat Kala Bhavan is divided into different groups such as Mahamana Malaviya gallery, Nichols Roerich gallery, Chhavi gallery, sculpture gallery, archeological gallery, Nidhi and decorative art gallery.
Bharat Kala Bhavan is opened from 11A.M.to 5P.M. Rabindranath Tagor was the first chairman of the Bharat Kala Bhavan. One of the figures which is quite popular is that of Lord Krishna standing on one leg and one hand on his hip and lifting a mass of stone above his head, with one head.
